Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and to improve its appearance. A crown can restore a broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down. It can also hold together parts of a cracked tooth or cover misshaped/discoloured teeth. Frequently we will recommend a crown if you have required a root canal treatment as it can be the best way to protect the tooth.

The crown will look just like the original tooth which has been damaged, and we do this by taking an impression and sending it to the laboratory to be made. When you come back to the practice to have it fitted we cement the crown in place and make sure the fit is perfect and the bite just right.

Here at Mount Oval Dental Practice we are all trained to the highest standards in placing dental crowns expertly. If you would like to see examples of our work please ask at reception.
